Notary Public Services

Essential Contracts is committed to providing professional, impartial, and reliable notary public services in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio.

Please review this policy before scheduling your appointment.


Appointment Requirements

To complete a notarization:

Every signer must be physically present at the time of notarization unless the notarization is performed through a legally authorized Remote Online Notarization (RON) platform.

Each signer must present a valid, government-issued photo identification unless otherwise permitted by Ohio law.

Each signer must appear willing, aware, and capable of understanding the document they are signing.

Documents should be complete before your appointment. Blank spaces that could affect the document's meaning should be completed prior to notarization.


Acceptable Identification

Examples of acceptable identification may include:

Driver's License

State Identification Card

U.S. Passport

Military Identification

Other government-issued identification permitted by Ohio law

Expired or unacceptable identification may result in refusal of service.


Documents We May Not Notarize

A notarization may be refused if:

Required information is missing.

The document is incomplete in a way that could affect its meaning.

The signer cannot be properly identified.

The signer appears unwilling, coerced, or unable to understand the transaction.

The requested notarization would violate Ohio law.


Impartiality

As a commissioned Ohio Notary Public, I serve as an impartial witness to the signing of documents.

I do not favor any party involved in a transaction and will perform notarial acts only when permitted by law.


No Legal Advice

Essential Contracts is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

When acting as a Notary Public, I cannot:

Explain legal rights or obligations

Interpret contracts or legal documents

Recommend whether you should sign a document

Draft or revise documents during a notary appointment

Select the type of notarization you need if you are unsure

If you have questions about your document or need legal advice, please consult a licensed attorney.


Contract Services Are Separate

Essential Contracts also offers contract drafting, document preparation, and contract review as separate services.

These services must be requested separately before a notary appointment.

Documents presented solely for notarization will not be drafted, reviewed, edited, interpreted, or explained during the appointment.


Mobile Notary Services

If mobile notary services are offered:

Additional travel fees may apply.

Travel fees will be disclosed before your appointment.

Travel fees may be non-refundable once travel has begun.


Appointment Cancellations

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide as much notice as possible.

Repeated missed appointments or late cancellations may result in refusal of future appointments.


Fees

Notarial fees are charged in accordance with Ohio law.

Additional fees may apply for:

Mobile travel

After-hours appointments

Weekend or holiday appointments (if offered)

Printing or administrative services (when applicable)

All applicable fees will be disclosed before services are provided.


Confidentiality

Information provided during your appointment will be handled with reasonable care and confidentiality, except where disclosure is required by law.


Right to Refuse Service

Essential Contracts reserves the right to refuse a notarization when permitted or required by Ohio law, including when:

Proper identification cannot be established.

The signer does not appear to understand the document.

The signer appears to be acting under duress or coercion.

Fraud or unlawful activity is suspected.

The requested notarization is prohibited by law.


Limitation of Services

A notarization does not:

Verify the truthfulness or accuracy of a document.

Validate the legal sufficiency or enforceability of a document.

Replace the advice of an attorney.

Guarantee that a document will be accepted by a court, government agency, lender, or other third party.
